We use the engaging and uplifting power of art to improve the clinical environment and experience at Sheffield Children’s Hospital for our young patients, their families and staff.
We do this by commissioning forward-thinking artists, designers, creatives, and landscape architects to create welcoming, comfortable, and engaging spaces for children. Our surroundings have a powerful effect on how we feel, which is particularly important in a hospital, where the environment has a huge influence on wellbeing and comfort.
Our work at Art+ strives to help all who visit Sheffield Children’s Hospital to feel at ease, whether staying long-term or just a few hours. It spans the transformation of unfamiliar clinical settings into calm and spirit-raising spaces; interactive digital installations that distract from pain and anxiety; and creative and inclusive workshops that soften overwhelm and boost positivity.
We’re super proud of our award-winning work, funded by The Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity, and the transformational, far-reaching impact it has. Over the past 16 years, we have collaborated with incredible artists such as Quentin Blake, Morag Myerscough, Universal Everything, Jon Burgerman, Pete McKee and many many more on projects across all three hospital sites.
As the needs of our patients continue to grow, so too do our ambitions and we’re working hard to change the perception of art in clinical settings to make its benefits accessible to all. By continuing to deliver remarkable things we can make our extraordinary hospital feel even better.
